Percy Maka
Achievements:
Thrower Percy is one of four Don Oliver scholars to have been selected for the Athletics NZ Performance Development Squad. This is a two year programme for emerging athletes demonstrating future performance potential. PDS members receive invitations to relevant camps, and planning support to assist with learning the fundamentals of developing performance.
He is already ranked as the country’s top U20 Mens Discus glider and placed fourth at the 2023 Australian Open & U20 Track & Field Championships while a 17 year old up against 18 & 19 year-old athletes. Last year he was selected for the NZSSAA Championships Paper Team 2022.
The NZ Olympic Committee has expressed interest in him as a potential competitor for the Pacific Games to be held in the Solomon Islands in Nov-Dec 2023 (to be confirmed late June) Auckland Championships 2024 NZ Track & Field Championships 2024 Australian Open & U20 Track & Field Championships 2024.
His upcoming domestic comps include the NZ U18 Mens Secondary School Championships, the NZ U20 Mens Track & Field Championships and the Auckland U20 Mens Champs.
